多倍体植物进化研究取得系列进展 多倍体是物种形成、基因组进化和生物多样性维持的重要机制,也是农作物从头驯化的经典策略,但多倍体如何持续存在并取得进化成功尚不清楚。 版纳植物园生物地理与生态学研究组韩廷申副研究员与合作者一起,在前人工作的基础上,归纳总结了三种验证多倍体是否取得进化成功的假说(图1),即多样化假说、长存活时间假说和适应性假说。其中多倍体适应性假说,即“多倍体是否可以在扩散过程中持续存在并适应新环境”,可能是唯一能够在群体水平和可以预见的时间尺度上得到检验的假说。为对该假说进行检验,该研究以分布于横断山区的两个成功的蔊菜属多倍体物种(高蔊菜和沼生蔊菜)为对象,通过整合物种形成建模、比较谱系地理分析和生态位重建,验证了两种多倍体的杂交起源,及在横断山区从南到北反复拓殖的群体历史(图2)。基于两年同质园实验的证据表明,在此过程中,多倍体种群的适应能力呈现出沿纬度梯度提高的趋势。上述研究结果支持多倍体取得进化成功的适应性假说,表明多倍体可以通过调整适应性来应对扩张过程中的选择压力。该研究是对多倍体适应性假说的实证检验,将为多倍体的适应性进化研究提供新的见解。相关成果以Adaptive responses drive the success of polyploid yellowcresses (Rorippa, Brassicaceae) in the Hengduan Mountains, a temperate biodiversity hotspot为题,在线发表于植物学期刊Plant Diversity。 该项目在横断山区开展野外调查和取样工作过程中,由已毕业硕士生郑全晶发现并命名了一个十字花科蔊菜属植物新种,横断山蔊菜(Rorippa hengduanshanensis)。该新物种主要分布在横断山区的洱源、剑川、大理、丽江、宁蒗和香格里拉等海拔1500米至3000米的区域。横断山蔊菜是该属近十余年来唯一命名的新物种,其发现有助于了解横断山区的植物多样性组成。相关成果以A new Rorippa species (Brassicaceae), R. hengduanshanensis, from the Hengduan Mountains in China为题,发表于分类学期刊Phytotaxa。
